| We came across the
following on the website : http://www.enter.net/~cornerstone/IND.HTML
Followers of news on our web pages will notice that in the
Caribbean and South America the Holy Spirit has been doing a marvelous thing, pulling more
Hindus to faith in Christ than ever before. In fact, He has been doing this throughout the
world. But the enemy is active too. We know a pandit in Venezuela who actively tries to
keep young converts from fellowship with other Christians and who openly attacks the
church.
The article then goes on to make the claim that :
In Orissa, which is about 95% Hindu and 2% Christian,
authorities are cracking down on Hindus who become Christians. The government has directed
revenue inspectors to visit homes, and if the inspectors see a cross, Bible or Christian
art, they are to immediately cancel basic citizenship privileges for those who live there,
according to India Intercessors newsletter. Some Christians have already been notified
that they have lost their basic rights because they have converted from Hinduism.
[end of excepts]
Comment : There is no provision in the Indian constitution
that permits Government to withdraw basic citizenship rights of anyone. The website
making above claim offers no evidence for the accusation either.
